Dianne Duvall’s The Purveli Playlist
Hello, all! Thank you for joining us. I’m excited to be here today, celebrating the release of THE PURVELI, the third stand-alone novel in my exciting new Aldebarian Alliance series. If you haven’t read the first two books, don’t worry. You won’t be lost if you pick this one up. So if you like sci-fi romance that features strong heroes and heroines—as well as lots of action, passion, humor, and happily-ever-afters—I hope you’ll pick up Jak’ri and Ava’s story.
Music has always been a big part of my life. So whenever I write a book, I inevitably begin to associate certain songs with it. Sometimes a song has some meaning or plays a role in the story. Sometimes the song simply brings this or that character to mind. Today I thought I would share some of the songs on my Purveli Playist.
1
Hello World — Evie Irie. Born with telepathic abilities, Ava lived a rather sheltered and isolated life until she went to work for the network that enabled her to venture into space. So she tended to be on the shy side. But she really comes out of her shell in THE PURVELI.
2
Not Gonna Die—Skillet. If Ava and Jak’ri had an anthem, this would be it. “No, not gonna die tonight. We’re gonna stand and fight forever” sums up their determination throughout the book. These two will NOT give up.
3
Beautiful Ugly — Tim Minchin. Though their situation may seem grim, Ava and Jak’ri love to laugh and tease each other. This song reminds me of the often-playful nature of their relationship… as well as their honesty with each other. ;-)
4
Rise — Katy Perry. This makes me think of Ava, too. No matter how hopeless things appear, no matter how high the odds are stacked against her, she doesn’t give up. She rises to the occasion.
5
What’s Up Danger — Blackway & Black Caviar. Though Eliana’s role in this Aldebarian Alliance book is small this could be her anthem. She does NOT shy away from danger and totally kicks butt. I love her strength. Dagon does, too. And he doesn’t shy away from danger either, diving right into battle alongside Eliana and his men. (Eliana and Dagon are the heroine and hero of THE SEGONIAN.)
6
I Promise You — James Cordon. Ava and Jak’ri certainly become each other’s heroes, drawing strength and determination from each other. Together they can do anything. Nothing and no one can stop them.
7
Resilient — Katy Perry. Ava and Jak’ri both find themselves in an absolutely terrifying situation. They could easily give in to despair but instead stay strong throughout, determined to win their freedom and a future together.
8
E. T. — Katy Perry. I couldn’t resist adding this one. Jak’ri is an alien, after all. :-)

ABOUT THE BOOK
𝙉𝙚𝙬 𝙔𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝙐𝙎𝘼 𝙏𝙤𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲 𝗗𝘂𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱-𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘀𝗰𝗶-𝗳𝗶 𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗹𝘆-𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿-𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀.
In no time at all, she is speeding across the galaxy aboard a Lasaran warship manned by two amazing alien races. It's the dream of a lifetime... until a vicious attack by a mutual enemy of Lasara and Earth lands her alone in an escape pod with no habitable planet in sight and only one ship within range: one that carries the enemy who wants to know why the bioengineered virus they released on Earth long ago didn't exterminate humanity and leave the planet ripe for their claiming.
Jak'ri doesn't know how long he has been a prisoner aboard the Cebaun, but he fears the enemy's twisted experiments will soon lead them to a virus that will eradicate the Purveli people. Despair grips him until a female from Earth is taken captive and reaches out to him telepathically. The gift that Ava said caused her such misery in the past soon becomes his salvation as the two of them form a fast friendship. Determined to distract each other from the horrors of their existence, they immerse themselves in telepathic communion during the day, then seek solace and adventure together in shared dreams. As their friendship deepens into love, the two hatch a daring plot to escape their captors. But the enemy will not let them go without a fight.
Don't miss the first two books in the Aldebarian Alliance series!

REVIEW
Although The Purveli, book three in the Aldebarian Alliance,
can be read as a stand-alone, I am a series reader and always suggest starting
at the beginning of said series. Dianne Duvall crafts a magnificent collection
of stories; the overall arch is gripping, filled with action, thrills, and
suspense, and the characters are always quick-witted, charismatic, and
endearing.
What I enjoyed: as previously touched on, Dianne Duvall’s
characters are always likable. I appreciate a good dose of humor in stories,
and her characters are laugh-out-loud hilarious. The women are strong-willed
and tough, and the men never make them feel abnormal for it. Gender roles are
not stereotypical. In the end, you will always get a happily ever after, but
there is still enough well-crafted tension present that it feels authentic. In
short, Ava and Jak’ri are engaging and easy to root for. Also worth mentioning,
I have previously thought myself uninterested in the sci-fi fantasy romance
world, but the Aldebarian Alliance books have quickly won me over to that side.
I find the new races and worlds intriguing and cannot wait to discover more
about this larger universe.
